MATH 1040 - INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS
Thanks for teaching introductory statistics this semester! Below you'll find both semester-specific and general materials to help you in preparing your courses.
Beginning Fall Semester 2014, instructors will be required to use your CANVAS course site for student grades. You will also use it to share documents like the syllabus, calendars, and projects with your students, rather than printing them and distributing. Additionally, you will have your students submit their signature assignment for the course using CANVAS. Information and tutorials can be found here: http://www.slcc.edu/elearning/services/canvas.aspx and training will be available from the Math department.
Homework Exercise List
Instructors using MyStatLab must still assign some homework from the textbook. Here is the list of book problems for MSL users.
The specific due dates for the parts of the project are not specified due to various schedule permutations. You may edit the document to put in the specific dates that work for your class.
Course Learning Objectives
The learning objectives detail what skills students are expected to master in the course.
The StatCrunch and Excel Exercises are equivalent to each other and have the same assignment dates. StatCrunch is only available to MyStatLab users. Teachers not using MyStatLab should use the Excel exercises.
This is the formula card that will be provided with the departmental final exam, along with tables for the standard normal distribution, the t-distribution, the Chi-square distribution, and a table of critical values for the correlation coefficient. You should provide this to your students for your mid-semester exams as well.
There are some great classroom activities on the resources page. An example is the one posted below - it works well for the first day of class!
